Patrick “Paddy Whack” Cocherl III

Patrick Cocherl

Patrick J. Cocherl III was born in Kansas on February 18th, 1987 to Patrick and Kathy Cocherl. Patrick is the youngest of 5 siblings (Jennifer, Shawn, Ryan & Kristen). Having grown up in Leawood his whole life, he had the great opportunity to attend the renowned Blue Valley School District starting at Prairie Start Elementary, onto Prairie Star Middle and finishing off at the world class Blue Valley High School. While in high school he played football his sophomore year, played baseball all 4 years (2 year Varsity starter and captain) and acted in numerous productions ranging from musicals (even though he is tone deaf) to overly dramatic pieces like “The Grapes of Wrath”. He was also involved in The 5th Wall Improv Comedy Troupe and in his senior year was ranked nationally in Forensics in Comedic Duo Interpretation. Patrick has played golf since he was 6 and has always been more fascinated with how far he could hit each club instead of the final score on his card. In 2012 he had a chance meeting in Florida with trick shot exhibitionist and long drive professional Mike Zeigler. It was then Patrick was introduced to the world of long drive. When they hooked back up in 2013, Mike worked one on one with Patrick and began to instill the work ethic required to compete at a high level. In his first year of competition Patrick qualified for the 2013 World Long Drive Finals in Mesquite, Nevada; going through Region 5 in Lawrence, Kansas. Patrick could not do what he does without the help of those around him; he wants to take a moment to share his thanks to the following: To my sponsors; thank you for your belief in me and helping me chase my dream; Shane Cordes, Behman Zakeri, Bank of Blue Valley and those who wish to remain anonymous. To my parents; I have the best parents a kid could ask for. You have stuck with me during my highest highs, and the lowest lows. Your unconditional love and support motivate me every day to be the best me I can be! My brother’s and sister’s; I literally cannot believe I am so lucky to have you all as my siblings. I think it is safe to say that I haven’t laughed more in my life than when I’m with you all!!! To my friends; I cannot believe that I’ve known most of you most of my whole life. You all have been there through thick and thin, and it is truly an honor to be a part of your lives. You truly inspire me on a daily basis, and make the statement “No man is a failure who has friends” ring true! My coach, mentor and friend Mike Zeigler. Brother, I can honestly say I would not be where I am today without your tutelage and friendship! Finally, I have to give a big thank you to Bobby Bradley! I cannot thank you enough for the opportunity you have given me to work with your company, Charity Golf International. It has truly been a life changer!
